This week I had a catastrophe. No exaggeration, it was a bit of a nightmare. It involved my website, (which may still look a little different at the moment) and it involved me not being able to get into my ‘bit’ of it to add things like this blog post you are reading.
I’m not really ‘techie’. I can use a computer and I know how to do the things I need to but technical speak and the behind-the-scenes aspect is not my area of expertise. So, I needed some help and some technical support. Even that was quite tricky to come by. Now you know that I’m positive and upbeat about things but I felt a little lost and a little helpless when even the support website that I contacted was going over my head.
Luckily I had a knight in shining armour to come to my rescue. Mr S knows a thing or two about IT and he was able to work out the bare minimum to allow me to get back into the admin area and we will hopefully iron out the other technical issues soon too.
Of course, with my NLP head on I looked for what positives I could take from my experience. What I learned today is that everybody needs that little extra help sometimes and that those of us with some of the answers sometimes assume that people know the basics. That wasn’t true for me today and it may not be true for you either. I needed someone to walk me through the really basic stuff in order to work through the steps I needed to put in place.
I also felt a little helpless for the first time in 18 months (albeit about something quite different) and I hate to think there are still people out there feeling that way about their weight. I didn’t know where to turn back then and I felt like things were spiralling out of control. Today reminded me of that feeling and I knew what I wanted to do for you.
Of course I am running a business and I sell my expertise and skills but I do it because I care about you and I want to help and support you. I want to help and support you whether you want to buy my products and services or not. That’s ongoing and I’m always here.

You can ask more than one question but only one at a time and I stop accepting email questions on 31st January 2011. No question is silly or too basic (remember I’m a novice at some things too).
