I always sit down to write my blog bursting with information that I really want to tell you about. I could talk forever on this subject and sometimes I have so much to say I get in a really horrid mess trying to get it all down!
So, today, I want to make the message really clear.
If you want to lose weight this year then I want you to lose weight. Permanently.
End of story.
However, I wonder how many times you have said that before and how many times you actually lost the weight you wanted and whether you have kept it off.
You see, losing fat (rather than weight) is a tricky business and a lot less complicated than they would have you believe but you need to be in it for the long haul. You need to realise that it must be a long term solution rather than a quick fix in the form of a temporary and short term diet. In fact you must be prepared to change for ever. The key to the success of long term weight losers is that they never go back to their old ways.
What you don’t need to do is live ‘on a diet’ for the rest of your life, you just need to get your head around a few key points first.
Your mindset is the most important aspect of your weight loss journey. Believing in yourself and knowing that you can lose weight is more important than what you eat. I think is was Henry Ford that said, ‘Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re probably right’. What he meant by this was that if you already think you won’t achieve something then you are not in the right place to make it happen and have already begun to sabotage yourself.
In order to make anything happen or to succeed in any way you have to believe in yourself and stop accepting your excuses. Whether you ‘cheat’ or not on your diet is no concern for your group leader but I bet every time you’ve been in a diet club you’ve hidden the full horrors of your fall from the wagon. In the end the only person you have hurt is yourself. Sort out your mindset and you don’t need anyone telling you where you went wrong. If you do go wrong, you’ll know for yourself but you are actually more likely to stay on the path.
So, for 2012 I want to encourage you to forget the diet and sort out you mindset. Believe in yourself and your ability to succeed and you are more than half way there.
Next time, I want to talk more about your mindset and how it can help but until then please feel free to comment below and please like, share or tweet.
