I don’t know if you know about Pinterest – it’s a virtual pinboard and social network. I have used it to pin images promoting this blog and I often find good cake recipes too! There are many health and weight loss businesses on there and a whole host of contradictory and (in my humble opinion) misleading advice about the best way to lose weight.
The ‘pin’ that has got me so worked up about it that I just had to blog, however, says this:
Here’s a weight loss secret you can pin: There are no secrets. Stop eating garbage and get off your ass.
And it has me worked up because I can tell you, that is not the secret.
Anyone who thinks that people who want to lose weight just need to eat less / stop eating ‘bad’ food and move more and all their troubles will be over:
- Has never had a weight problem
- Has never known anyone with a weight problem (or taken the time to know what is really wrong with that person)
- Should not be advising anyone with a weight problem
If you could just lose weight by eating less rubbish and moving more then surely we’d all be doing it already, nobody would ever fall off a diet and we’d all be skinny. People wouldn’t need to rejoin Slimming Clubs or their local gym because they’d be doing everything they needed to already.
You see, being overweight or wanting to lose weight is not your problem. Never has been. Your problem is much more complex than that. Your problem causes 2 main symptoms that both need to be addressed; overeating and gaining weight. But what is your problem?
So, back to the secret of successful weight loss? Wait for it…
Understanding what is causing the symptoms of overeating and weight gain, dealing with it, moving on with your life and finding that you are naturally moving more and nourishing your body. Simples 🙂 But not easy 🙁
If you’d like some support working out what your problem is and how it is affecting your weight book a no obligation strategy session with me now. Because not sticking to your diet isn’t it. But during your strategy session we’ll find out what it is and I can tell you how we can address it. I can’t wait to speak to you.
