Its my birthday this week and what a difference one whole year can make. Last year I was having a really tough time; my first business was in a completely different place and I was feeling very negative, I was at my all time heaviest weight (including during three pregnancies) and I was feeling very low and stressed.
Fast forward to this year I am altogether happier and a more positive person, I am working more hours in my first business and I have retrained, am started a new business and gone from a UK size 18 to a UK 12. Amazing. Is my life perfect – of course not! I still have tough days, I still have to juggle work and family but I approach it differently.
So, today I want to tell you about my year and how I have turned things around since last birthday and hope to inspire you to let me help you do the same. In July I met a therapist who helped me to change the way I looked at my life. From my sessions with her I managed to put things into perspective, see my life in a more positive way and realise I can make changes to my life. I am responsible for that change and capable of making that change. I can decide how I will react to the obstacles that I come accross and realise that they need not stop me from achieving what I want to achieve, although they may slow me down a little at times.
Positive thinking is not always a natural thing to do if you are not used to it, but the more you practise the easier it becomes. You need to catch the negative thoughts and banish them before they take hold. At first you may find you start actually conversing with yourself but it reduces over time!
Along with positive thinking we used hypnotherapy to induce weight loss. Always an emotional eater before, I now am not tempted to binge when I’m sad (although that is less often now) or stressed and I am far more choosy about the foods I eat. I don’t worry about calories, or diet plans or anything food related for that matter. I eat what I want and I eat with my family. However, I think my diet is naturally more healthy and I choose to eat that way.
So, I’ve eaten delicious meals out with friends and family for my birthday and bought new clothes to celebrate my slimmer body. Just imagine what I will achieve in the coming year!
