This week there has so much talk about a certain UK boy band. (Yes I have 3 small girls, we know all the ‘pop’ acts in this house). Whilst I am not a true fan their song ‘What makes you beautiful’ is such a great message and I think that many of my clients need to really listen to some of the lyrics.
I won’t go on about them but I would like to take a little bit of time to expand on the message that they touch on in their lyrics.
In my consulting room I meet the most amazing people. Many of them are mums and they often work at least part-time out of the home too. They juggle their lives and work hard and put themselves waaaay way down their list of priorities. And some of them really undervalue their attractiveness.
My job is not to judge but to help women unlock their self and body confidence and if that involves supporting them with weight loss then we work on that too, but many of them totally undervalue how attractive and valuable they already are. I chose my name ‘Beautiful Swans’ because I wanted to help women to transform the way they see themselves in their minds.
I know that weight loss is important to many of you. At the start of my journey it was to me too but hand in hand with losing weight, learning to appreciate yourselves for the fantastic contributions you make to the people around you and to appreciate your body’s little curves and dimples, is equally important. Because being happy to be you isn’t guaranteed just because you lose a few pounds. You have to be confident and happy to be you, just because.
So, I’d like to challenge you to listen to ‘What makes you beautiful’ and try to see yourself the way the others see you – not only your looks but also your amazing personality.
Let me know in the comments whether you feel confident about yourself and your body (post with your name as ‘anon’ if you like) and why you think that is. I always love to hear from you.
