A couple of weeks I talked a little about your mindset and how it is the key to your weight loss success. Today I’m going to outline the 3 main ways in which your mindset influences the way in which you lose weight;
- As I already talked about in one of my early January posts your mindset can be make or break with your weight loss journey. How you feel about your end success really defines the way you approach a task. If you start with the belief in the back of your mind that you won’t really make any headway then you are doomed to failure (sorry :-/). If you are hoping that you will lose weight this time and yet trying an approach that has already failed you then you are very unlikely to succeed. All the past experience is tainting your current attempts and you simply, deep down inside either don’t believe in yourself or you don’t believe in the approach. Hope and try are the same in my book and as Yoda himself said ‘Do or do not, there is no try’.
- Positivity and the ability to turn around any setback will serve you well on a long weight loss journey. There will always be days when you are unable to stick to the healthiest food choices or you can’t stick to your exercise plan. Successful weight losers take this in their stride. They turn the setback into an opportunity, see it in a different light and manage not to let it ruin their entire day, weekend or week. The ability to see small problems in perspective will help you to easily find solutions or workarounds. There is no problem that you can’t solve, the word impossible even says ‘I’m possible’. Applying your positive outlook to your looks too can help you along the way. Finding the parts of your body you like, accentuating your curves and making the most of your best features will give you a boost and make you feel better about yourself along the way.
- Once you’ve developed your can do and positive mindset then you can apply this to other aspects of your life. You may even start to realise that your weight is less important than you thought. With other things in life to take your focus you may start to accept yourself for who you are and stop defining yourself by your weight. That’s not to say you should abandon your journey or your fitness regime, rather see it for what it is, one facet of your life and not your main focus. You may even find that once you put everything into perspective that your weight will come off more easily and without you even thinking about it.
Leave me a comment and let me know how you are going to change your mindset to help with your weight loss success.
