I really, really love September. I love that crisp chill in the air on the walk down to school in the morning, I love the freshness and I love the colours that come as the leaves begin to turn. Although not officially Autumn, I love that Autumnal feel that September brings.
It’s also a new start, the start of the Academic year, like a mini New Year. Life, for many of us, does change in significant ways in September; children starting school, moving school, mums having to rethink work options and simply the end of Summer with all the different routines it brings.
What better time then to have some new beginnings, some new ideas and some new goal setting and promises to ourselves. How about making a commitment to positivity, a commitment to finding that sliver lining to every (yes EVERY) cloud.
But Rachel, how can I be positive about everything? Sometimes life isn’t that great – I hear you shout!
How we feel isn’t determined by the things that happen in our lives. We don’t need to be controlled by events or other people. We always have the choice about how we feel and how we react to events in our life and choosing positivity over negativity can do so much;
A Positive outlook can
- Improve your mood short term
- Prevent stress and all associated side effects
- Encourage better interactions with others
- Improve realtionships
- Reduce negative eating patterns
- Make you feel better!
It’s not always easy to maintain if you’re not used to it, it takes practice and you may find you need to catch your negative thoughts and turn them round at first until positive thinking becomes natural for you. It will make you feel so much better though!
Tell me how it helps you below – I always love to hear from you!
