Today has been a really tough day for me. I am not feeling great, and this afternoon, despite my best efforts I really would have loved to have laid down and gone to sleep but I had deadlines looming! As a result I haven’t got the energy to cook and I have had a few snacks since I got home.
This happens to everyone. It is a really tough day for me and beating myself up about the fact that I have had a couple of slices of white toast and will probably be eating takeaway for tea isn’t going to help. However, as I only get these days every once in a while I’m not too worried; tomorrow I’ll be back to normal and my food choices will be back to normal.
You need to recognise this – life gets tough from time to time, you feel unwell or out of sorts, you have a really busy few days at work and you need to have an ‘off day’. What you also need to remember is that it is only one day, you don’t need to let it slide into a weekend, a week or a month. Get back on the horse. This means that the next time you need to, you’ll be able to cut yourself some slack, knowing that you’ll bounce back to normal.
As a busy mum you have to learn to let go of perfection and the need to get it right all the time. Allow yourself an off day, get an early night and get up the next day raring to go, ready to take on the world.
It’s a short one this week, because I’m exhausted and ready for bed, but as always, I’d love to hear your comments.
