I’m feeling very Christmassy already this year. I think it helps having young children; they get very excited and they are already in Christmas mode at school. I’ve also been planning my ‘mums night out’ with the other mums in the playground, so I’m starting to get into the festive spirit. Christmas can be a funny time for you though if you are unhappy with your weight or have been trying to lose weight.
If you’ve been on a diet in the run up to Christmas then I have bad news for you. Unless you stick to it over Christmas you are likely to gain weight. Unfortunately that is because of the effect that dieting has on your body and it makes you more likely to gain if you slip off the regime than if you’d never dieted in the first place.
As I am sure regular readers will know I DO NOT ADVOCATE DIETING. Shall I say it again? I DO NOT ADVOCATE DIETING. I’m going ask you very nicely, if you have been dieting, to take on some of my tips which I know will go against the grain if you are a serial dieter and then to promise yourself that in 2013 you won’t diet in order to lose weight.
Even if you have not been dieting in the past few months it may be that you’d like to minimise the damage some of the Festive feasts may do and I’d still suggest you follow these tips that I’ve put together this year.
It is possible to eat the foods you enjoy, to indulge in the Christmas treats that you love and to still maintain your normal weight or even lose a little if that’s what you’d like to do. So please, leave me a comment telling me what your favourite festive treats are below and have a look at the tips that I’ve written. They are free. My Christmas gift to you.
