Like many, I can be a bit of a procrastinator. I never pulled all nighters in college, but I left every essay, piece of homework and as a teacher, lesson plan till the bitter end – I’m not good at getting things done unless I have a deadline.
It’s not really that I can’t do it and I have been known to, occasionally, do forward planning but I find things difficult to manage in huge chunks. I often look at something and just feel overwhelmed at the enormity of it all, so I leave it and leave it until it can’t be left any longer.
Many of us feel that way. A problem, an issue can seem so big and so difficult to tackle that we just leave it and leave it, until in our heads we have built it up to something huge and even bigger than it was when we started.
The way to approach things then, is to break them down, make them manageable, put it into bite sized chunks. Baby steps even.
Having a significant amount of weight to lose is like any other issue, task or problem. It can seem huge, it can seem insurmountable and of course we put it off and put it off. But like anything else, breaking it down into smaller, easy steps can be the answer.
Identifying our reasons for putting on weight and not being able to lose weight are a good start, thinking about how we look at our life in general and how and why react and relate to the things that happen to us. Identifying how we can improve our lifestyle and then setting goals that are pinpointed and targeted are also small steps that move us through to the end result.
I’m not one to advocate diets or pills, I prefer to look at the whole person and tackle the thought processes and issues that my clients have. That is why I have created the simple 5 Steps to Weight Loss Success programme to break down the issues into manageable chunks you can work through, at your own pace. The programme breaks down each issue and allows you space and time to work through each step before you launch into your new successful life ready to lose weight permanently and easily.
To baby steps…
